Back to Painting: Part 8

I changed my mind (part of being an artist) (grin) about painting random individual hairs. Instead I decided to overlap clumps of fur/hair. This technique strengthens the illusion of three-dimensionality on her neck. I also darkened the background colors and added a wee bit of red and yellow to my entire palette to brighten the painting.

Now, I have a better idea of how to paint her head – longer clumps of fur! I’ll wait to finish the fur on the neck until I figure out how to paint the fur/hair on the head.

Note that I have not used any extreme dark or light values – mostly middle values. I want the eyes to be the focal point, only the iris and pupil will include a full range of values from white to black.
